From a wide selection, the right ones have been chosen

When I designed the Squarespace features icons, I didn't imagine to create so many icons!
Here I would like to show you the hard work of choosing the best solutions from a large number of alternatives.
The icons are like a little logos designed according to precise rules: like in typography for example, the proportions and the balance of the thickness is very important or also the building of the shapes based on a modular grid. Their semantic value has great importance in the design of interfaces.
The project has followed the typical steps of graphic design: brainstorming, conceptual sketches, modular construction, balance and proportion of thicknesses, etc...
However, leave out the technical stuff, after a long conceptual work on each icon, I have discarded the ones that were fuzzy and had ugly graphics and then I have defined some semi-final proposals:

At this point we can choose the most adequate icons to website layout, so we had to chosse further the final ones.

It is really fascinating how much work there is behind a simple icon and how much satisfaction there is to see all these symbols take life in any graphic artifact!
Icons,
Squarespace
