Pixelmator: elegant and powerful photo editor

I just discovered this photo editing application, a powerful image editor for Mac OS X, that has all its power on Mac technology as Core Image, Open GL and ColorSync. Indeed, it is only for the Apple system.

Pixelmator has the usual tools of image editor application, but its peculiarity is the innovative approach that users have with them.
I want to focus on the interface and the design of the icons. Consistency with its image, makes it a good product easy and fun to use, in perfect "Apple style".

From the installation window, you can see the icon of the program, designed by Eugen Buzuk (IconDrawer), all the graphic is consistent reproduces of image of Website.

The interface is very close to the style of the Apple Pro application and the icons are nice and the metaphors work really well. Also they have a fun animation on the active status the highlight mainly that you're using them.
A curious aspect is the care of the details: the separation between the controls are light and non-invasive, the confirmation buttons are colored with the main color (blue gradient) and, my favorite, above the custom/detail windows there is a decorative line in "work in progress" style: awesome idea!

Another great feacture are the filters: through an innovative and simple approach the user can control and create every kind of graphics effects, just dragging a hanging rope! I think that this is a really good interactive tool, which is more close to an real action in comparison to the typical mechanics approach of computer application.

Even the website have all the image features of the product: I suggest to have a look at it. Pixemator is a program to try without doubt: quality, simplicity and fun make it a good product.
